About the network
Call quality depends less on bandwidth than on stability. Packet loss and jitter break a call faster than a shortage of throughput. Practical rules:
- Meeting rooms go on cable only.
- Prioritise conferencing traffic on the network equipment if the internet link is shared with the rest of the office.
- Check whether SSL inspection on the firewall is interfering with conferencing traffic — a classic cause of "the call falls apart after a minute". Conferencing traffic is normally excluded from inspection by a dedicated rule.
