DAC cable QSFP28 100G, 2 m — intended for a hundred-gigabit link inside the rack. The medium is a copper cable with moulded connectors; no external power is needed.

Specifications

A cable costs less than a pair of modules plus a patch cord and needs no connector cleaning, but its length is fixed and can only be changed by replacing the cable. Inside a rack that is usually the right choice; between floors it is not.

On compatibility. Switches from many vendors check the coding in the module EEPROM and may reject a third-party transceiver or accept it with a warning in the log.
