The Gold 6154 offers 18 cores and 36 threads per socket at a 3.0 GHz base clock with Turbo Boost up to 3.7 GHz, for 36 cores and 72 threads per server. That is three times the cores of the Bronze 3204 version and, more importantly, one of the highest base clocks among 1st generation Xeon Scalable parts, an advantage for databases, ERP and other workloads sensitive to single-core speed.

128 GB of memory is enough to stand up a full virtualization host with dozens of VMs, a Microsoft SQL or Oracle server, an ERP node or an in-memory cache without buying more DIMMs. Keep the 200 W TDP per processor in mind: the server draws and dissipates noticeably more than the Bronze and Silver versions, so the rack needs headroom in power and cooling.
